The plugin “MyEducationPath” for LMS Moodle (moodle.org) was extended and new version released.
The plugin now can be used to generate certificates of course completion in the LMS Moodle.
After the upgrade there are 3 main functions:
- Publish a course created with Moodle in the online courses and MOOC directory;
- Issue certificates of course completion for students in a Moodle site;
- Getting a feedback from students about a course in form of comment and rating.
The plugin can be downloaded on the special page – MyEducationPath Moodle plugin .
Issuing certificate of course completion with this plugin has following benefits:
- a certificate can be printed
- a certificate is hosted on MyEducationPath.com and can be shared with social networks;
- a student can create an account on MyEducationPath.com and show his certificates in an Education passport (personal education history);
This software is built with using the API.

New feature has just been released – Certificates of a course completion generating. Registered education providers can issue certificate for their students. Then a student can view his certificate, print it and share with social networks. Also a student can put a certificate on his Certificates Wall and share the link to the wall to show all his certificates in one place.
And, of course, a certificate can be displayed in personal Education Passport.
Education Providers can use this feature right now. Just login to your Education provider account. You will be able to design your certificate templates and then issue certificates to your students.
Also, there is the API to integrate this feature in education provider eLearning system to issue certificate automatically. Next week we will release a Moodle plugin to issue certificates. The plugin will be based on the Certificates Wall plugin but will have more features and will be upgraded to work with latest versions of Moodle.

We continue experimenting with ways to search MOOCs by our users. Today we launch brand new tool – MOOC Tags Cloud.
There are 2 views for this tool – flat tags cloud and 3D tags cloud.
We expect this tool must become popular. If you like it then share with your social networks with your friends!
And, as a bonus! We created nice 3d MOOC Providers Cloud. It is amazing, isn’t it!
FutureLearn.com just launched and now has been added to our listing.
There are 20 courses offered by this provider. Now our users can comment and rate courses, add to personal education path and calendar, store in the education passport after a courses completing.
Thousands of people who completed MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) think about possibility to get college credits for new knowledge.
MOOC providers usually don’t do certification and it is not possible to earn credits. For example, Coursera help says it is not possible. However, there are independent organizations who can assign credits based on examinations. Such examination can be called “Get credit for what you already know”.
Recently, we launched the functionality to connect certification exams to MOOCs to find easy relevant exams.
Now we created new tool to see all relevant exams for all MOOC provider courses on one page.
The tool is there – Find certification exams for MOOCs and online courses.
Other interesting tool we launched recently is alternatives listing of courses of a specified provider. See there Find alternatives to MOOCs and online courses.
And the last one new tool is the tool to find courses to prepare to certification exams. It does reverse work to the first tool. Prepare to certification exams using MOOCs and online courses.
New Open Education provider was added to the MOOCs directory. This is Open.Michigan Initiative, University of Michigan. 81 open courses are shared to the community.
The Open.Michigan collection showcases teaching and learning resources and experiences from University of Michigan (U-M) faculty, students, staff, and partner institutions. The website hosts teaching and learning materials produced by U-M faculty, students, and staff that are licensed under a Creative Commons license (“open license”) that allow for redistribution, copying, and adaptation.
Current state of the MOOCs directory
At the moment our MOOCs and online courses directory contains 6609 courses from 19 providers. Upcoming courses (182), Free (4397), Always open (4367). The directory grows all the time.
After we added MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) and Open Yale to our directory total count of courses in the directory are 5575. 3911 among them are free online courses. This makes MyEducationPath.com online courses directory the biggest list of MOOC courses in the Web.
Other update we did recently is functionality to map courses to other similar courses – alternatives. And yet another function is Prerequisites courses management. We want to map prerequisites for courses where it is possible (if one course from the directory can be used as prerequisite to other course, even from different vendors). We will try to build the graph of online courses using “prerequisite” and “alternative” relations. You can help us with this.
